School Formal Edit

Broadway Maxi Dress

As you embark on the most anticipated event of the year, the School Formal you need to start thinking about the dress that is going to make you feel beautiful and enjoy what will be one of the best nights of your schooling years.  We have compiled the Collective Style Hire School Formal Style Guide; every girl deserves to feel beautiful without the stress and monetary outlay.

Planning – Approach your school formal with an abundance of confidence.  The first thing to consider is knowing what colours work well with your skin tone and always remember to play to your strengths in terms of body shape.  We all have body shape strengths it’s just finding the right fit dress. Don’t forget that dream hairstyle.  Some dress styles are much more appealing with a up hairdo opposed to down – consider if this fits in with your ideal look.

The Dress – The number 1 thing to consider is comfort – it’s a long night to be in a dress that is so uncomfortable that you can’t wait to get home to take it off! You must be able to breath, sit and dance whilst feeling elegant at the same time. If you are large busted and would rather wear a bra, then ensure you select a style with either thick straps or strapless – which will enable you to wear a strapless bra.

The complete look – There are a few no no’s to consider when trying to pull of your show stopping look.  Visible bra straps and underwear need to be number one priority.  Trust me you can kiss goodbye to your comfy undies and say hello to a pair of shapewear.  Personally, I have a couple of pairs and they are my lifesaver.  They’re comfortable and pull you in, in all the right places whilst smoothing your lumps and bumps.  There are several seamless, smooth and nude styles that will work best with most outfits.

The ShoesAgain this is another important thing to consider.  If you want to be one of the ones on the dance floor all night, then comfort is the key, after all you really want to avoid taking your shoes off – this really isn’t a good look.  Have a look at investing in some heel guards or comfortable gel cushions and make sure you pack some band aids in your clutch.  The best advice I can offer is to wear your shoes around the house for an hour or so for at least one week leading up to your school formal, not only will this wear them in, it will also give you practice walking in them – ensuring there are no mishaps walking up the stairs.

The Face – Stick with what you know works best.  The night of your formal avoid trying a new foundation, eye shadow or anything for that matter.   There would be nothing worse than breaking out in a rash a couple of hours before your big night.
